Moms need “me time”!
Moms need me time! Do you take that much needed time you need for you? As a homeschool mom I tend to get wrapped up in everyone else and what they need. When I am called up on I tend to drop what I am doing to help or take care of the need at hand. However, one of the things I forget to do is schedule “me time”.
“Me time” is so important for us to schedule and we need to protect that time. That time of doing something refreshing for ourselves is important for our growth in life. We need that refreshed feeling of encouragement regularly.
How do we find “me time” ?
So how to we get that “me time”? How do we fit more time in our busy mom schedule. Especially as a homeschool mom, having time to ourselves seems impossible. Well, it is not impossible. Finding time to recharge is obtainable. We just have to be determined to schedule that time and protect the time scheduled. Protecting the time may be saying that word “NO”. Now I know there are things that could interrupt that time like illness and emergencies, and those are exceptions, but everything else can and should wait.
Let me share a few things I enjoy for that “me time”
- Getting a mani-pedi is always nice.
- Having a cup of coffee with a friend.
- Cultivating my Hobby – I love to Wood Burn.
- Sitting and reading a good book for enjoyment.
- Watching a good movie (usually a love story).
- Taking my little dog for a walk.
- Going to a ladies retreat is always a blast when you find the right one.
Making time for yourself is a way to inspire you and recharge for a new day. While we love motherhood, we still need to step away momentarily to breathe and regroup. We need that recharge sometimes to feel our worth in our busy day-in and day-out role. I challenge you today to find “me time” and add it to your schedule. Get with your family and schedule this time with them helping you find that time. This time isn’t to get away from our family; no not at all, it is time for you to recharge for the benefit of your family.
What do you like to do for some “me time?” What is your way to get that recharged feeling back?

Kelly says
Throughout the semester, I’ve kept track of areas that need review. After break, we are going to revisit those areas to get on the right foot. I’ve assigned specific times for me to work with each child in areas they need more help and a visual schedule will be posted so my other two do not interrupt . During this time, they will be able to practice their individual musical instruments or independent work or free time. We are also incorporating our typing and foreign language that will continue through the summer because learning is year round! I’ve also designated game time Wednesday and Friday to incorporate reinforcement for phonics and math (my junior high student can help be a facilitator ). Being flexible and teachable as a teacher helps us grow as a family & as learners!
